Hey Trainers!
We’re excited to launch an awesome, community run endeavor this year: the State Leaderboard and Champions League Tournament! This is a way to reward competitive play, showcase community spirit, and bring players across the state together!
Some things may evolve over the course of the season, but this is how we’re kicking things off. Any changes to the items below will be carefully considered and clearly communicated with players and organizers.
We’ll begin tracking in October 2025 and finish at the end of the 2026 season (likely the end of May 2026). Local Cups, Challenges, and additional Opt-In Events will all count toward the leaderboard, using the model outlined below
Points will be awarded based on local tournament performance with the following limits:
League Cups: best 7 finishes
League Challenges: best 10 finishes
Opt-In Events: no finish limit – all placements count
Participating stores can run special leaderboard events, these events:
Can use any format (Standard, GLC, VGC Little League, etc.)
Must be clearly defined and communicated to players ahead of time
Will be scheduled in Play! Tools, ideally 7 days in advance (but a minimum of 3 days)
Must meet the same standards as a championship event:
Good-standing professor present
Hosted in an accessible, safe venue
We totally understand that not everyone wants to be compared or ranked. You’ll be able to fill out a simple form to opt out of the leaderboard. The form can also be found under the Player Information tab. Players who opt out can still participate in Community Challenges and attend the Champions League side events. We want this experience to feel rewarding and inclusive, whether you’re playing competitively or just engaging for fun!
Happening in June 2026, the Invitational will feature:
A centralized venue
The Champions League Invitational main event
Side events open to any Colorado player who wants to join, hang out, and celebrate the season!
TCG Masters – State Leaderboard Top 32
TCG Seniors & Juniors – State Leaderboard Top 8 each
VG Masters – State Leaderboard Top 16
In the interest of creating a more equitable experience for players across the state, "remote" regions (areas with limited access to leagues and long travel distances to other stores) will have separate leaderboards. Top players from each remote region will receive invitations regardless of their placement on the statewide leaderboard. These regional invites will not pass down if the player also qualifies via the statewide leaderboard.
We are currently looking at a $700 prize pool for our players! This prize pool is contributed by Colorado stores that opted-in to support an excellent player experience.
Stores can opt-in at any time, so the prize pool may grow during the season
If you are interested in having additional events to play in, reach out to your LGS and let them know about the endeavor and your interest in it!
Some stores may choose to contribute more than the base amount
A massive thank you to the leagues that have already opted in to help: Grand Slam (Fort Collins), Inconceivable Toys and Games (Castle Rock), Diamond in the Ruff League (Windsor), The Gamers Nest (Longmont), Advantage Games (Northglenn), and Game Knight (Pueblo)
