Why does the season begin in October?
Because the inception of this idea came after the beginning of the 2025/2026 season, we wanted to give it a set time to begin. This gives us the opportunity to ensure that all of the moving parts on the organizer's side are ironed out and finalized to create the best player experience we can.
How do I participate in the leaderboard?
If you attend a challenge, cup, or opt-in event in the state of Colorado between October 2025 and May 2026, you are automatically included in the leaderboard. As soon as you get a top placement at these events, you will appear on the state leaderboard for your respective game. If you wish to be excluded from the leaderboard, you can fill out the Opt-Out form to be removed from the leaderboard. At the end of the season, the top 32 players in the state-wide leaderboard and the top 1-2 players in remote regions will receive invitations to the Champions League main event to battle for the title of best player in Colorado!
I don't want me/my child included in the leaderboard.
Completely understandable! We know that not everyone wants their season progress to be tracked/compared to other people, or that you'd prefer to keep your/your child's privacy. If this is the case, you can Opt-Out of the leaderboard at any time. You/your child's name will no longer appear on the leaderboard, but you can still participate in the Community Challenges.
Why do we have BFLs/Those specific BFLs for Championship events?
The BFLs on Championship events are taking into account the maximum number of events players with access to only one-or-two stores could attend over the course of the Leaderboard season. The BFL is one over the amount of Challenges and Cups a player with access to two stores could attend over the course of a season. There is no BFL on Opt-In events because these are benefits given to stores for opting-in to participating in the event. These are intended to be fun, different, challenging events that have the option to show skill in the game beyond the standard format.
Why is there an option for the Opt-In events to be run in formats other than standard?
We want to give stores the opportunity to run events that best serve their community, and give the chance for players to take a break from the standard format. The goal is to find the best Pokémon players in the state of Colorado, not the best standard format Pokémon players.
Can my store get involved even if we don't have challenge/cup permissions yet?
Absolutely! You can Opt-in to be able to run special leaderboard qualifying events even if you don't have challenge/cup permissions yet. There are also additional ways you can get involved, so don't hesitate to reach out. There is more information on the Store/League Information tab if you're interested in other ways to get involved.
I am from an area that doesn't have easy access to an official Play! Store, but still have a community that gets together to play Pokémon TCG/VG, is there a way for me to get involved?
Potentially! Please reach out to us via the Colorado Professor Discord (linked in the Stores/League Information tab) so we can discuss what options for involvement might look like for your players/community.
I can't contribute the full amount necessary to Opt-In, but still want to contribute to the events, what are my options?
Thank you so much for wanting to help! There are multiple ways you can contribute; if you are looking to contribute financially, we are more than happy to work with you to find a lower amount that works for you that still gives an equitable amount of Opt-In events. You can also support us by helping to submit your tournament results, and spreading the word of the leaderboard event. Finally, we would love to hear any ideas you have for the monthly challenges
If I don't get involved at the start of the season, is there an option to get involved later?
Absolutely! You can fill out the opt-in form at any time.
What's the point of the Community Challenges?
Not everyone wants direct competition with other players, or the stress of performing at the top level all the time. These challenges give options for players to participate in friendly competitions that encourages alternate ways to enjoy the game and celebrate involvement across the state of Colorado.
What happens if I win the Community Challenge?
At the end of the month, the winners of the Community Challenges will be contacted to set up a way to deliver prizing. This could look like a local meetup, shipped product, or virtual money transfer depending on what the specific prize is for the given Challenge.
Can I make a recommendation for a Community Challenge?
Absolutely! We have 8 months of Challenges to come up with, so we would love to hear any ideas you might have. You can put the suggestion in the CO PTCG discord and we will keep it in consideration as we plan out the challenges. If we don't get to them this year, if this endeavor continues on, we'll keep them in mind for the future, too!
